Color Outside the Lines With Your Dreams

color outside the lines with your dreams

In life (and finances) you will have challenges and goals you want to accomplish. But it’s important to think bigger and ask yourself, what are your hopes and dreams?

Dreams

Dreams are different than just regular goals or ambitions. They are secret desires and passions, that we don’t even want admit to ourselves, much less to others. They are hopes and sometimes fears of things you wish and pray would happen.

Dreams are the driving force that keep you going, because there is always a slight chance (by fate or other luck) that the dream could come true. They have the ability to push you onward into the future, giving you something worth living for, and hope for tomorrow.

Fears

Fears have the opposite effect. They can drown you, anchoring you with chains and constantly weigh you down. Fears paralyze your progress. Understanding your dreams is one of the first steps towards realizing the truth about who you are, and who you are to become.

Not only in life, but with your money and relationships. Then to voice those dreams (and fears) out loud, takes it a step further towards becoming an unstoppable force. A person with reckless abandon. A hero.

Admitting your dreams can be very difficult. It takes a lot of courage and once you do, it can be scary. Really scary. What if the dreams never come true? What if your fears come true instead? How will you survive?

When I answer these questions, I think of it as taking a crayon and coloring on a piece of paper. When you stay within the lines, it’s a clean picture, easy to read and creates a nice piece of art.

But when you stray outside the lines, it becomes unintentionally beautiful, something that speaks to everyone differently.

Others might find it ugly or difficult to see the complete picture, but it will always be an original masterpiece. I have first hand experience with depression, illness, loss of a loved one, divorce and other issues. My life could literally be a script for a soap opera with all the relationship drama and failures I’ve had.

Although it’s tough, I still choose to color outside the lines. To live life with unintentional hope and passion, looking forward to the masterpiece that tomorrow brings.

Ask This Instead

What if your dreams DO come true? What if your fears NEVER happen?

You have to decide whether you want to live a safe and comfortable life with lots of missed opportunities. Or a life full of tragedy, but a heart full of thanks and wonderful memories.

Life gets messy, and it won’t always have a color by numbers code to follow. But it’s better to be brave and admit the ugly parts, than to live a boring, coloring inside the lines kind of life.

You have to leave the thoughts and fears about money in the past, and embrace the possibility that your financial dream can come true. You can live an epic life. You can create a one of a kind masterpiece.

So learn to color outside the lines, and to step outside of the boundaries. Don’t let your fears stop you from achieving your dreams.

I love this post. Your life is what you make it! You may not get everything in life that you want, but chances are you will get what you need. The worst answer anyone can tell you is NO. Then at least you know where you stand. Good post Carrie! Keep writing em!

Definitely! You never know if you don’t try.

I love the old Nike line “feel the fear but do it anyway.” I think I have to convince myself that every time I step out of my comfort zone (writing blog posts, running my first marathon, when I sold my business).

Your post also reminds me that I’ve got one shot to get a lot of stuff done. It’s time to get busy!

I have a funny question that I haven’t asked anywhere yet. How does everybody get their picture in the posts? There’s a button somewhere that I’m missing. You’re all very good looking people, btw.

You can just make yourself a gravatar account and upload any photo you like. Thanks Joe :)

Update: Looks like you’re already on it!

I still have to convince myself too. It’s a daily/weekly thing, weighing the pros and cons of putting myself out there, possible rejection or success and whether it’s worth it to me or not.
