There are over 500 million people and companies on Facebook, and about 300 million users on Twitter, worldwide. And of course there are other social media sites like Pinterest, Google+, and LinkedIn.
That’s a lot of people on social media, not to mention the amount of blogs there are available!
As a brand influencer or brand ambassador you can leverage all of your social media and blogging platforms to earn money and get tons of free stuff.
Don’t worry I’m not talking about the spammy types that annoy all of us. There are legitimate ways to get free stuff, earn cash and win prizes — all from being a brand influencer.
Seriously, I’ve proven it. Here’s how I do it.
Create an influencer profile
The easiest way to find and connect with brands, when you don’t already have a network built up, is to use influencer marketing platforms. These influencer networks work with hundreds of brands, campaigns and offer many opportunities for you to pitch yourself.
The three main marketing platforms I use include:
It only takes a few minutes to create your free account and fill in your influencer profile. Most of the opportunities will start rolling in related to social media postings, blog campaigns and even videos.
Between November-December of 2016 I earned $850 by participating in just two SponsoredTweet campaigns.
Get freebies with Facebook
If it’s free stuff you’re wanting, companies and publishers are always on the lookout for influencers who are looking to showcase their products. If you’re willing to post a picture of yourself using the product, or an honest review, you can easily score free stuff in exchange for your time.
“Like” your favorite companies
If you’re wanting to make a purchase from a certain brand or company, they are almost certainly going to be on Facebook. By “liking” them you will get access to coupons, free shipping codes and daily specials.
Many companies like BeFrugal.com offer daily/weekly contests, for gift cards and free products. Once you “like” companies on Facebook, you will have the opportunity to enter current sweepstakes and giveaways.
The benefits of using Facebook include being able to participate in:
- Daily contests
In the past I’ve won a free basket of Burt’s Bees hand lotion and manicure supplies, plus a lotion/lipbalm set from Carmex, just from using Facebook.
Earn more cash on Twitter
Now, in case you don’t already know, I LOVE Twitter!
I really enjoy interacting with fellow bloggers and readers, that share some of my same passions. I also really like being able to “live tweet” events and campaigns that I participate in.
“Follow” brands on Twitter
Many times I’ve seen a discount or limited-time only coupon, posted to Twitter before it’s posted to any other social media sites. I find it’s quicker to get the updates on Twitter than to wait around for a Facebook post or email.
Tweetchats are one of the highlights of my week. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve laughed at the things some people say.
A Tweetchat is like a chatroom on Twitter, where everyone uses a hashtag (#) to follow the conversation. Normally they are about an hour long, and will have questions asked by the host/company, followed by answers from participants.
Some chats are about personal finance, career advice, or food/recipes. Basically anything goes. More often than not, the host of the chat offers prizes, like an Amazon gift card.
I’ve won two-$10 Amazon gift cards and one-$25 Visa gift card. All for attending a chat, interacting with other Tweeters and sharing random tips.
Get sponsored for your tweets
Yes, you can make money for each tweet you post. All you have to do is sign up (using your Twitter account) at SponsoredTweets.com for free, set your price and start accepting offers for ads.
If you’re picky like I am and don’t want to tweet a particular product, you can decline. You might have to start out low, only getting a few cents per tweet. But once you build up your reputation, you can ask for more money.
In just a few months, I made $32.92 from tweeting. I could make more if I wasn’t so picky in what I promote on Twitter, I don’t want to be too spammy.
The benefits of using Twitter to earn extra money include:
- Getting first dibs on sales/discounts
- Winning gift cards
- Re-tweeting giveaways and contests
- Getting sponsored for tweets
- Other money-saving tips
Enter giveaways from bloggers
In the past I’ve worked with other brands to test out a product or try out a service in order to share the review with my audience. As part of their promotion they often send two products, one for me to test out and use and another to give away to my audience.
A blogger giveaway is a great way to get books, products and access to digital software for free!
“Connect with” your favorite blogger/website
Until I became a blogger, I had no idea bloggers hosted giveaways on their blogs. By connecting with a blogger or website, you will be able to enter giveaways for books, cash, beauty products and even clothes.
The winners are chosen randomly, and if there’s only a handful of entries, you will have even MORE of a chance of winning. Some of the most popular kinds of giveaways include Amazon gift cards and books.
I have personally won two books, a tax organization kit and $25 cash. You never know if you will win, unless you enter — which normally only requires you to connect with that blogger on social media or leave a short comment.
Bloggers that are really popular, get first dibs on trying new products, which they can pass along to you in a giveaway. I’ve even hosted a few of my own.
The benefits of entering blogger giveaways:
- Winning gift cards or cash
- Trying the latest products
- Getting free books
- Winning a handbag, scarf or other accessory
Most of the time I don’t even have to try that hard to earn money on social media. You simply have to be ready to leverage the platforms you already have and then jump on the opportunities as they arise.
With just a little time and effort you can earn some money, get free stuff and win great prizes as a brand ambassador.
