We’re going to broach the topic quickly and simply say that we understand that it isn’t always easy living in Georgia when it comes to nature, and that the renters insurance prices can reflect that. Yet staying in Georgia is worth it for you and your family, and you need to be able to ensure your future meets as few road bumps as possible. This is exactly why you need a policy, and why we researched the cheapest options to help you get protection while keeping you on financial track.

Here are the five cheapest renters insurance providers operating in Georgia:

The Five Cheapest Quotes:

Depending on whether you live in a high-crime area, whether you live in a place prone to flooding or other damage, and whether you’re on the coast where a hurricane might hit the hardest, you might find that your results will vary greatly from the average listed below.

The number listed next to each provider is the average annual rate for a standard policy.

1) State Farm: $286

One of perhaps two options if you’re looking for a policy that will cost you less than a dollar a day, State Farm is a well-known provider that will provide you with great service for a somewhat low price, especially for Georgia. You may also find their built-in business property coverage useful, and their electronics coverage is better than any other at this tier of pricing.

However, you may want to be careful if your apartment is prone to flooding or water damages, as coverage is lacking or unavailable when it comes to those problems. It is also possible you will run into an unhelpful or inexperienced agent, so shopping around might be required.

You can expect the following working with State Farm:

  • Reliability and stability when it comes to your communications and your coverage.
  • Availability anywhere in the state, being one of the most widespread companies in the country.
  • A stress-free onboarding process.

2) Liberty Mutual: $361

The other (relatively) inexpensive choice on this list, Liberty Mutual is a reliable insurance provider who can provide you with a plan that has few weaknesses and give you adequate service for your money. It would seem disparaging to call them the safe choice, but sometimes the safe choice is exactly what you need when you’re looking for the regular set of coverages and services.

You may not want to bundle your car or other types of insurance with them, as they don’t always receive such high marks for those services, but they are an excellent standalone option for many people.

You can expect the following working with Liberty Mutual:

  • Great and easy-to-use online and mobile interfaces paired with a great online quoting system.
  • Partnerships with many companies and organizations that allow for discounts, enough so that you probably belong to at least one.
  • Optional water and sewage escape damage, high-value items, identity theft, electronics, and jewelry coverages, among others.

3) Farmers: $498

A great option from a customer service perspective, Farmers might be worth that much extra on your annual rate on saved time and frustration compared to some of the less service-oriented providers on the market. You may also get additional useful yet optional coverages such as pet damage protection, personal article floaters, and superior liability coverage.

There are a few things to give you pause though, and jewel collectors will want to look elsewhere, as their jewelry coverage leaves a lot to be desired. Most notably, some people have run into bureaucratic roadblocks when working with them. And while their team is helpful, that kind of structural issue is not easily overlooked.

You can expect the following working with Farmers:

  • Discounts for teachers, doctors, nurses, police officers, and other professionals.
  • The option to change your deductible to something more reasonable for your situation.
  • A very responsive and professional customer service team.

4) Nationwide: $557

A somewhat premium provider when compared to most other options across the country, Nationwide has superior metrics and services when compared to other providers, and most notably has the best customization options among our reviewed businesses. Going down to the item category and perhaps specific items, Nationwide lets you reduce coverages you’ll never use.

However, they are still a more expensive service, and their default coverages aren’t the best in the business. Some customers also report their quoting process isn’t always accurate and report changes to their policy down the line.

You can expect the following working with Nationwide:

  • Bundles and discounts that can lower your total yearly cost, especially if you’re willing to make some security improvements to your apartment.
  • A staff that will undoubtedly be able to answer all your questions.
  • A free annual assessment to update your coverage to what you currently require.

5) Allstate: $588

Normally a much less expensive provider in other states, Allstate is notably expensive as a renters insurance policy in Georgia and might want to be skipped by most people. This is understandable, but there are still a few good reasons to work with them. They can offer you water coverage if you feel you are at risk in your apartment, and their coverage for high-value items outshines the competition. They also offer great bundle packages if you are also in the market for auto insurance.

However, the customer service you receive might not be as good as what you deserve to be getting for the price, and rates have been known to skyrocket in high-crime areas. Some more research would be prudent before signing the dotted line.

You can expect the following working with Allstate:

  • Online chat help during business hours.
  • A great understanding of your insurance needs.
  • A massive organizational structure that keeps the company stable and grounded.

We hope that these options show you that great renters insurance in Georgia is not only feasible but affordable and worthwhile for nearly every family. Yet, as mentioned before, we highly encourage you to do your own research and get some quotes from the providers that interest you, as that’s the only way you’ll be able to make a fully informed decision. Whatever your situation, may you rest easier at night knowing you have a better safety net sitting underneath you.
