Oklahoma, with its multiple cities and beautiful landscapes, is a fantastic place to live and make your way up in the world. Yet Oklahoma can also be affected by severe weather including storms and most notably tornadoes. We don’t want you to be left without most of your wealth or a place to stay, which is why we ask you to consider renter insurance to protect yourself from potential problems in the future. It can turn a life-changing ordeal into a manageable problem, and we looked into the cheapest providers in the state to ensure that its affordable for everyone.

Here are the five cheapest renters insurance providers operating in Oklahoma:

The Five Cheapest Quotes:

Without even taking into account your building and lifestyle, just based on your location alone the rate and experience you might get from each company will vary, so we ask you to not consider the following write-ups as exact but instead as a general guide.

The number listed next to each provider is the average annual rate for a standard policy.

1) Amica: $285

The cheapest option in Oklahoma, Amica can be a great choice for anyone looking for an effective plan delivered by an outstanding customer service team. Simply put, they want to retain customers, and will make every effort to keep you satisfied with a plan that is to your liking. They attempt to make everything as easy as possible for you, and also have plenty of other insurance offerings (and bundles) to keep you with them.

Yet there is always a tradeoff when you get this relatively low of a price, and in this case, you might not get too many customization options. Customers have also regularly reported price hikes after the first year or two, and even though this may not necessarily happen to you, it is wise to exercise caution in this regard.

You can expect the following working with Amica:

  • A long list of optional coverages.
  • Discount offerings such as a loyalty discount and a claim-free discount.
  • A surprisingly strong level of coverage for the price.

2) State Farm: $298

State Farm is another company that can give you a solid policy that you won’t have to think too much about, and for many people that is exactly what they are looking for. With excellent levels of coverage when it comes to electronics, business property, and expensive items (among other categories), a bit of research might make it clear that State Farm is the choice for you. And with the discounts and bundles offered, it could very well be the cheapest option as well.

What you won’t find with State Farm is the exceptional customer service you would get with Amica. Nor would you be able to find good water damage or flooding policies, which might be important where you live. You’ll want to know your priorities before signing the dotted line with State Farm.

You can expect the following working with State Farm:

  • A high level of coverage for the relative cost.
  • Some limited ability to customize your coverages.
  • A loss-of-use plan that is one of the best in Oklahoma.

3) Allstate: $454

If you find that State Farm isn’t to your liking, Allstate might be a great substitute, albeit at a significantly higher price. That being said, there are a few points that Allstate has over State Farm, and it mostly comes in the form of flooding and water damage coverages (things State Farm does poorly with). They also are a great choice for bundles and provide a full range of coverages that will help keep you and your family on your feet.

Yet that additional cost won’t be getting you any better service, nor will it grant you too many customization options (you’ll need to look further on for those). Ultimately working with them may come down to your area and needs.

You can expect the following working with Allstate:

  • A helpful online platform and online tools and options.
  • Optional coverages such as water damage coverage, identity theft restoration, and business property coverage (enhanced from the usual).
  • The security of a stable and massive company.

4) Farmers: $470

Another company that can offer great customer service and then some, Farmers is a unique choice for Oklahoma in that is one of the few companies that can provide you with many customization options for an acceptable (if not stellar) price. With them you’ll be able to change your deductible, affecting your price or payout upon a claim, but also the level of coverage you have for certain types of items.

Unfortunately, for their benefits, people have reported that it can be difficult to work with them online and that there’s a bit more of a runaround than what they would like. You will also want to check their default coverages if you get a quote from them.

You can expect the following working with Farmers:

  • Excellent customer service from agents and staff who know exactly what they’re doing and are knowledgeable in their departments.
  • Optional pet protection, improved liability coverage, personal article floaters, and identity theft protection.
  • Discounts for certain types of professionals such as teachers, firefighters, and doctors.

5) Liberty Mutual: $706

We’re going to be upfront and say that at this average price Liberty Mutual is a very difficult and often suboptimal choice for many people, and if you have found another company you like on this list you should go with them. Yet we still want to profile their strengths, and you should know that Liberty Mutual does provide you with a great policy that will cover nearly any eventuality. They are a reliable company, and you can trust their renters insurance.

But if you think you can get a cheaper rate by bundling with them, you may want to think twice. While you might be able to, you might not get the same level of care and quality with their other policy types. Further research is recommended and nearly required.

You can expect the following working with Liberty Mutual:

  • The potential to reduce the very high average annual rate via the use of discounts offered in conjunction with partner organizations.
  • Helpful online tools, user interfaces, and services.
  • Optional coverages for electronics, jewelry, identity theft, high-value items, and water damage.

Living in Oklahoma can be great, but it certainly isn’t risk-free, which is why we implore you again to consider getting renters insurance from one of the companies listed above. Whatever your needs, you should be able to find a solution.
